The Hierophant Social Link in Persona 3 Reload features Bunkichi and Mitsuko, an elderly couple running the Bookworms bookstore in the Iwatodai Strip Mall. Building a relationship with them provides touching story moments while unlocking significant gameplay bonuses for persona fusion. Understanding how to initiate this bond and choose the best responses ensures rapid progression without wasting valuable daytime slots.
How to Unlock the Old Couple Social Link
Players can visit Bookworms starting in late April to learn about a memorable persimmon tree located at Gekkoukan High School. After inspecting the tree in the school corridor to obtain a Persimmon Leaf, return to the bookstore to officially start the Hierophant link. This bond is unique because it is available almost every day, making it an excellent fallback option when school-based links are unavailable.
Optimal Dialogue Answers and Progression
Selecting empathetic choices during interactions maximizes relationship points with Bunkichi and Mitsuko. Encouraging responses regarding their beloved tree and supporting their legacy yield the highest affection gains. Carrying a Persona of the Hierophant Arcana during these meetings grants an additional point multiplier to accelerate rank increases.
Key Rewards and Fusion Benefits
Reaching higher ranks strengthens fused Personas belonging to the Hierophant Arcana by giving them significant bonus experience. Upon reaching Rank 10, the couple awards the protagonist a special Persimmon Fruit. This unique item unlocks the ability to fuse Kohryu, the ultimate Persona of the Hierophant Arcana.
Strategic Value in Persona 3 Reload
Maxing out Bunkichi and Mitsuko early opens opportunities to unlock subsequent relationships, such as the Temperance Social Link. Because the bookstore is open on non-school days, managing this link efficiently leaves more schedule flexibility for student companions. Balancing their storyline alongside other activities provides a seamless path toward completing all Social Links in a single playthrough.
